Pets are some of the most adorable thing in real life and Disney life. Everyone secretly wants to own their own Disney pet whether it be the classic Pluto or modern pet like Pascal. Pets hold an important role in the lives of their owners. They give them company and joy, much like real life pets.
Tammy: My favorite "pet", and I use this terms loosely on this fella, is Stitch. I love Stitch, and technically Lilo adopts him at a pet store so, he's a pet. Stitch has such a unique personality, and he changes so much throughout the several films, and TV series. One thing remains that he's still lovable. Even when he wants to destroy the world. I remember the previews for "Lilo & Stitch" and I always thought Stitch was a weird character, and why did he have to ruin all those Disney movies? But that's besides the point. I love Stitch and would gladly accept any Stitch toys or anything Stitch related if you're wondering. Angela: I love Pegasus. He is a horse and he can fly, what is not to love about him. I remember when I was little I had a baby Pegasus toy and it was so cute. It was also very cute when Pegasus was first given to Hercules and the bond was already so strong, like a real bod with your pet. I also love how much Pegasus care for Hercules, he knows that he is more than his owner. What's your favorite pet? Do you have a pet? Would you want a Disney pet? Henchmen, the opposite of sidekicks, but still just as comedic. How would the evil villains of the Disney world be able to go about all their evil tasks without someone to do them for them. Just like sidekicks there are so many great henchmen and some of them steal the spotlight of their villain leaders. Henchmen help the villains so much and get so little spotlight in return. Where would Gaston be without LeFou? Or Jafar without Iago (the parrot)? Lost and alone. So here's to the henchmen that stay by the sides of the villains, even when the villains are so mean.
Tammy: My favorite henchmen is less of an evil guy and more of a funny guy, Kronk. Kronk is just so hilarious and he steals the show, so much so that he has his own movie too. Plus "Pull the lever, Kronk." Is one of the best quotes to repeat all the time. Plus when you get down to it Kronk is good, he constantly discusses issues with the angel and devil on his shoulders. Sometimes being bad isn't something you realize and I think eventually Kronk learns to be a better person. Angela: My favorite henchmen is LeFou. In both versions of the "Beauty and the Beast" movie, there's something that helps you know he's not all that bad. He follows Gaston faithfully and tries his best, but there is something about him that comes off as a blubbering buffoon, that is so lovable. He makes the perfect lovable henchman. Who is your favorite henchmen? Do you think henchmen are good at heart? Disclaimer: No affiliation or sponsorship from Disney. Sidekicks are often known for their comedic relief in many movies. There are so many hilarious and just amazing Disney sidekicks. They help the protagonist become a better person, and they are what everyone wants to be for Halloween. Okay, maybe that's just me, but sidekicks may be slightly underrated for the amazingness they bring to the table. Even from the beginning of Disney, sidekicks helped build the story and character. Think of Goofy, where would Mickey be without him? Probably bored and stressed with Donald Duck and his anger. Sidekicks are great and let's give a round of applause for those great minor characters who hold a major part of our heart.
Tammy: My favorite sidekick goes along with my favorite hero, Baymax. I love Baymax. He is so precious and huggable. Baymax is the type of character that can say something short and stole my heart, all of my heart in just those five seconds. Baymax is programmed to care for Hiro, but really he guides Hiro in a way Tadashi, his brother, would have never planned. Baymax is programmed to help people, just like a sidekick would, and I think he does an amazing job at it. Angela: My favorite is Olaf. I love him, and part of it is that I love winter and everything that goes along with that, such as snowmen. He is just trying to help them find the way. I love that his first line is "I'm Olaf, and I like warm hugs." How can you not like a sidekick that wants to hug you. His song "In Summer" is also great cause everyone else knows what happens to frozen water when it gets warm. Another reason to love him is that he really cares about them, all of them. This is shown when he says "Some people are worth melting for." that just melts my heart, and shows how much he cares about Anna. What's your favorite sidekick? Leave a comment and let us know! As I sit here thinking of what might be my favorite heroine I'm somewhat unsure. What makes a woman such an amazing hero to so many people? Is it just because they're heroes, but female. Maybe it's because women aren't always seen as heroes over men who always get the spotlight. Either way where would we be without some of the amazing heroines out there in the Disneyverse.
Tammy: I'm kind of pondering this question still. What makes a heroine, a heroine? How are heroines different from princesses? Maybe princesses and heroines are kind of the same thing. I'm going for a classic character that I feel resembles a female hero (heroine), Mulan. This girl goes through the entire movie acting like a male hero and in the end she becomes the heroine we all really needed including China. Most importantly, she's not really a princess, she doesn't have a great honor she's fighting for or really any reason she's fighting, except to prevent her father from joining the imperial army because he's getting older. She's doing the wrong thing (some might think it's right, but if she did nothing we would have a short movie), but she's doing it for the right reasons. She wants to help her family and bring honor to them, and I think she does. And because all of that and many other reasons she's my favorite heroine. Angela: I am also going with Mulan. She goes and becomes a warrior so that she can prevent her aging father being forced to go, since her family does not have a son. She kicks butt and saves China, some tactics are not the most common, but they work. In the movie they literally tell her that she is a great hero. How can you not say she is a great heroine, she takes the place of her father and then pretends that she is a man so not to be caught. There isn't really much more to say that wasn't said above. Who's your favorite heroine? Let us know in the comments! Disclaimer: We are not affiliated or sponsored by Disney in any way shape or form. Heroes are some of the best parts of our lives. No one person achieves the face a heroism alone, but we have a seperate day for side kicks (stay tuned). Heroes come in all different shapes and sizes. Today we will be focusing on male heroes, the ladies have their heroine day tomorrow. Disney has brought out the best in heroes. And with the addition of Marvel to the Disney franchise, there's no shortage of heroes to pick form.
Tammy: While my pick is a Marvel character, he is probably better known due to the Disney animated movie "Big Hero 6" and that is the hero himself Hiro Hamada. I love BH6 and I think Hiro is what brings the story line together. If it wasn't for Hiro we wouldn't eventually have Baymax, but that's beside the point. Hiro shows a huge amount of character development and growth as an individual. If you've seen the movie you'll definitely understand what I'm talking about. I don't want to spoil any of the movie, but going through what Hiro went through would probably eventually lead to some drastic emotional growth that we eventually see. Seriously go see this movie. Angela: My favorite is a fairly classic hero, Hercules. I don't think you can get more of a hero than him, and he is technically a God, so. He knew that there was more that he could be doing with his life, and trained to do so. It didn't work out super well at first, but that happens, and he kept going. He is a great hero, there are many times that he helps people because he sees the need and that they are in trouble and he can help. One of my favorite moments of heroism is when Meg is held by a huge beast of some kind and he tries to save her, being the hero he is, but she doesn't need his help. He tries to help when he knows he should and that he can, as any everyday hero should be. What's your favorite hero? Do you like Marvel superheroes being part of the Disney family? I'm so happy it's half over merely because I want more time to watch different Disney movies. Dance scenes are one of my favorite things, well I guess I have a lot of favorite things when we get down to it, but that's besides the point. Dancing With The Stars likes to celebrate these dance scenes or just the Disney music in general with a "Disney night" and in my honest opinion it's one of the best nights of the season. Plus what better way is it to show your love of Disney than through a highly choreographed dance number. Especially with those featuring confetti and fireworks at the end. There's so many great Disney dance numbers, almost as many as great Disney songs, but that might just be a coincidence. Either way get jiggy with it and dance the Disney way with some of our favorite Disney dance scenes.
Tammy: Picking a favorite dance scene is so difficult, as most of these Disney Days favorites has been. However, I've been leaning towards a "High School Musical" classic, we all know it and I actually sang it in choir several times in Junior High (those were the days...) "We're All In This Together". HSM is such a cultural binding movie for my generation, my good friend in Pakistan also loved HSM. This song is the closing song to end the beginning of an era of great musicals and random dancing for my generation. And I would be lying if I said I didn't learn at least half of the dance moves (although it was for my choir performance, but still). Angela: There are so many great ones, and thanks to Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) so many have been brought back to light. I am going with "That's How You Know" from Enchanted. It's great cause it gets people who you wouldn't suspect to be singing and dancing to be doing just that, and people you wouldn't think would be doing stuff together. It is also great because the guy doesn't want her to be singing and dancing because that is not normal in the real world. The whole song talks about how to show you love someone, which don't we all need someone to remind us how to show our love. There are so many different ways to show you love and care for someone, that we may not think of them. What's your favorite dance scene? Do you like dancing along to Disney movies? Disney songs are known for having amazing lyrics, "I am on my way, I can go the distance, I'll be there someday, If I can be strong". Don't lie to me and say that you've never busted out in random Disney songs. Why might you do this? Although it might be from the amazing melodies and stuff in such like that, but those lyrics, those words stick to the hearts and minds of Disney lovers all over. "Hakuna Matata! What a wonderful phrase..It means no worries for the rest of our days..."
Tammy: So I've been slowly avoiding trying to figure this day out based on how extremely EXTREMELY difficult it is to pick just one lyric/phrase of one single song. OYE. However, I've done my best. I hope. "You've got a friend in me" sticks out the most to me. I think this song is the best definition of friendship and the line in particular "You've got a friend in me" says so much about not only the characters, but the amount of devotion they have for each other and just what friendship really means for them and so many other people. Angela: Why did we think that it would get easier as it went on?! After much thought I have decided on "Just a spoon full of sugar makes the medicine go down". I love it because it not only applies to when you have to take your medicine that has a nasty flavor, looking at you grape medicine, but also the rest of your life. No matter what you have going on in life, there is a point where you have to just take your medicine and think of something good with it. I think that is the whole point of the lyric, make a positive out of something that is normally a chore. There are so many great lyrics, it is hard to pick just one. What's your favorite lyric? If you haven't noticed from the last couple days I love music and Disney songs are one of the most magical parts about life. Picking a favorite Disney song is like picking the yummiest cookie ever. There's too many good ones to pick from! But someone has to do all the listening (or eating) to make sure the tastiest tunes (and cookies) are found. For this particular day I'm going to consider something outside of what I've previously mentioned. And remember I only have so many hours in a day (and most of them are spent sleeping) so I have not listened to every magical Disney song there is in the world.
Tammy: I've been thinking long and hard about this favorite song. And keep going back and forth between about 20 different songs. Like I said before, how can I pick just ONE! However, I'm going to try because if I don't I'll end up with a top ten list (which maybe I'll write up later this year). When I think of Disney I think of all the Disney magic and what song explamfies Disney magic better than "When You Wish Upon A Star"? This is a great song and it clearly shows what Disney is all about "When you wish upon a star your dreams come true". Maybe I need to start wishing on stars for a trip to Disney becuase that would be AMAZING. Angela: I literally wasn't sure which one to pick. I kept thinking of so many great Disney songs, and how can you pick just one song out of the hundreds of thousands of Disney songs there are. Alas I must pick just one. Going back and forth between many songs, I finally decided on one, "You've Got A Friend in Me" from Toy Story. I feel the song embodies Disney, in that we can all be friends and "And as the years go by, Our friendship will never die, You're gonna see it's our destiny, You've got a friend in me". What's you absolute favorite Disney song? Do you have a hard time picking just one too? Disclaimer: We are in no way affiliated or sponsored by the Walt Disney Company or Records. What kind of Disney movie would it be without a love song of some sort? Probably a good movie, but love of all types makes the world go 'round. The love between a mother and child or a boy and his dog, it warms my heart. And what better way for someone to express their love than through a song? Probably dance, but I digress. Love songs are beautiful and deserve a place in this Disney Day month.
Tammy: My love song is probably one of my earliest songs I remember listening to "So This Is Love". It's classic Disney love song. A very romantic exchange between Cinderella and Prince Charming. There's not much to the song, but the exchange and the emotional drive behind it is something I really appreciate. If you've never listened to this song, are you living under a rock? That's all I will say. Angela: My favorite love song is "I Won't Say I'm In Love" from Hercules. I love that she doesn't want to admit that she is in love. The muse are telling her that he is great and she should just admit that she loves him. She knows how hard love is she doesn't want to go through that. I love all of Meg's lyrics, my favorite is her last line "At least out loud I won't say I'm in love". You need to take a listen to this song! What's your favorite love song? I for one appreciate the work they do when they bring about happy endings in the end. Thinking about villains I'm reminded of the new DCOM "Descendants". New villains are made every day and there's lot's of great villain songs. Personally I think villain songs make them less "scary". Although there's some that have songs that add to the scary.
Tammy: I went back and forth between "Cruella De Vil" or "Friends On The Other Side". Both songs are amazing in their own place, but they both bring a different mood with them. "Cruella De Vil" has a happier mood and mocks the actual villain. However, this song isn't sung directly by the villain, but about the villain. "Friends On The Other Side" is a much creepier song. It gives me chills just thinking about it. It revolves around a whole voodoo session and it's just really good honestly. Both songs feature what the villain is about and it's incredible how much they add to the development of the character too. Angela: I thought this would be easy, but I couldn't think of any villain songs. I even googled lists. The best I find was "Gaston". I'm going to say from the new Beauty and the Beast movie. It's all about him and how great he is. It took me listening to the new one to realize that at the end why they couldn't spell his name right. What's your favorite villain song? Do they add to the character of the villain? Let us know in the comments! Disclaimer: We are not affiliated or sponsored by Walt Disney Company or any Disney villains. |
