Today is by far the spookiest day of the year. I am so excited. I have my Halloweenie outfit picked out because you need to dress the spoopy part, and I have my playlist of jams to rock out to the most spine curling , spooky, scary Halloween playlist. Or at least my favorite collection of Spotify Halloween tunes.
But that's not all I'm featuring some "Blast from the Past" Halloween Costumes!
Probably my least favorite costume was the popcorn boxes. Every time I tripped over the sidewalk trick-or-treating my mom and cousin had to pick me off the ground. Rough.

I am so excited for the changing season and the smell of the crisp Autumn air. Everything is pumpkin and apples. The smell and taste of this season is one of my favorite things ever. There are so many ways to celebrate fall, and especially with this Spooky season starting, I wanted to share some of my favorite spooky ways to celebrate the month of October. MoviesOne of the best ways to celebrate fall is by staying inside wrapped under some blankets with a nice cup of Hot Apple Cider and maybe a snack or two (and some Halloween candy you actually just bought for yourself). Here is a list of some of my favorite family friendly Spooktober movies: Ghostbusters (1984) - You really can't go wrong with this movie and even the Ghostbusters (2016) is great for a spoopy night in. (And for those claiming they should have done a sequel instead of a remake to Ghostbusters please watch Ghostbusters 2 (1989).) My favorite thing about Ghostbusters is probably the theme song, if you went to any Halloween party you've probably heard it playing at least once. The characters in Ghostbusters, are not what you would imagine as being heroes and yet somehow they save the day. And if you haven't gotten enough Ghostbusters magic, there's plenty of episodes from the animated series to binge from The Real Ghostbusters (1986-1992) and Extreme Ghostbusters (1997). The Time Burton Trilogy: The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), Corpse Bride (2005), and Frankenweenie (2012) - Honestly, these three movies are my favorite. I love Frankenweenie, it's a forgotten film in my opinion. NBC is a no brainer for most people as a great classic Halloween flick, even with Corpse Bride people love Tim Burton movies, but really all three of these films share something special that makes them equally amazing. There are many fan theories out there about whether these three movies are all related, happen in the same universe, are the same person, ect. Regardless of where you might stand in that argument as a collection all three movies bring a spooky vibe that only Tim Burton could inspire. Casper - Okay, I know there's a lot of Casper the Ghost movies out there, but Casper Meets Wendy (1998) is probably my favorite (because Hillary Duff and my inner "90's kid"). It has all the makings of a Halloween classic: witches and ghosts, and evil old white men trying to rule the world. Even Casper (1995) is a cute family, friendly Halloween classic. However, you really can't go wrong with any Casper cartoon or full length film, he's your cute, lovable, friendly ghost floating around and being adorable. Something a little spoopy to bring Halloween to your life. Halloweentown Collection - Halloweentown was a staple for me growing up, especially being a DCOM, but as all the new Halloweentown movies kept coming out and getting more and more ridiculous, and they changed the actors of the main characters, (we noticed Disney!) Halloweentown still remained a close spot in my heart. Halloweentown (1998) was honestly my favorite movie period, and it made me sad when Halloween ended I had to wait another year to watch it. Grandma Aggie was the grandma I wanted in my life. Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge (2001) was a nice sequel to my beloved movie, and I'll even give it to Halloweentown High (2004) for being somewhat of an ending to my favorite series, but Return to Halloweentown (2006), no. It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966) - No Halloween movie list could be complete without this movie. It's a family favorite and just a classic. There's something so comforting about Charlie Brown and maybe that's just me, but I don't think so. So for all the girls and boys who waited/are waiting patiently in the pumpkin patch for the Great Pumpkin or got a rock, this one's for you. I was not able to include every great Halloween classic, and some of these are not my personal favorite, so here are a few honorable mentions: Beetlejuice (1988), The Addams Family (1991), Addams Family Values (1993), Hocus Pocus (1993), Twitches (2005) (I love this one, but forget about it all the time), Scooby-Doo (no seriously anything Scooby-Doo works at this time of year), Coraline (2009), Double Double Toil and Trouble (1993) (Olsen Twins Halloween movie, probably not as good as I remember). Let us know what is your favorite Halloween movie is in the comments! More Spooktober celebrating tips to come later on this month. Happy Halloween!
