Now we get to the heroines. Kicking butt and taking names is what some of my favorite heroines do. As I sit here thinking of what might be my favorite heroine I'm somewhat unsure. What makes a woman such an amazing hero to so many people? Is it just because they're heroes, but female. Maybe it's because women aren't always seen as heroes over men who always get the spotlight. Either way where would we be without some of the amazing heroines out there in the Disneyverse.
Tammy: I'm kind of pondering this question still. What makes a heroine, a heroine? How are heroines different from princesses? Maybe princesses and heroines are kind of the same thing. I'm going for a classic character that I feel resembles a female hero (heroine), Mulan. This girl goes through the entire movie acting like a male hero and in the end she becomes the heroine we all really needed including China. Most importantly, she's not really a princess, she doesn't have a great honor she's fighting for or really any reason she's fighting, except to prevent her father from joining the imperial army because he's getting older. She's doing the wrong thing (some might think it's right, but if she did nothing we would have a short movie), but she's doing it for the right reasons. She wants to help her family and bring honor to them, and I think she does. And because all of that and many other reasons she's my favorite heroine. Angela: I am also going with Mulan. She goes and becomes a warrior so that she can prevent her aging father being forced to go, since her family does not have a son. She kicks butt and saves China, some tactics are not the most common, but they work. In the movie they literally tell her that she is a great hero. How can you not say she is a great heroine, she takes the place of her father and then pretends that she is a man so not to be caught. There isn't really much more to say that wasn't said above.
