If you realize from the last Disney Day we love music and what better way to emphasize that love than through a musical. Now Disney has tons of great original Disney musicals and chances are if you're familir with Broadway, you've seen or heard of at LEAST one Disney musical. You have the classics like "The Lion King" or "Beauty and the Beast" or new budding musicals like "The Little Mermaid" or "Aladdin". However there's so many to chose from and I love them all so much.
Tammy: So one fine day I stumbled across this up and coming Disney musical "Newsies". I instantly fell in love. I learned all the characters names and the actors name's. I learned all the songs. I could probably still sing them today. Plus, they recently released the stage production on digital download and I'm ready to watch it on repeat forever. My favorite part about this whole musical is the young kids working together and the fancy dance moves they do is amaze. I would watch the stage production if you haven't yet. Angela: My favorite is also "Newsies" since my sister showed it to me. the story is based on real events, but things changed a bit for the musical. The Broadway musical comes from a movie, and they changed it a bit from screen to stage. It's a great story of beating the odds and the little guy beating the big guy. I enjoyed this musical so much that I did a presentation in one of my college classes about it, I knew a lot of stuff about it before and learned even more after. Its a great musical and a bit unknown, but it still is great and hits it out of the park. What is your favorite Disney musical? Disclaimer: Not affiliated/sponsored with Disney.

If you're like me, you grew up in the age of beautiful DCOMs (Disney Channel Original Movies). I have been eagerly awaiting and dreading this day, because I have sooooo many favorite DCOMs. Disney Channel Movies since their start have changed, and more recently they're just long TV episodes follow obscure plots that really make no sense (but that's Disney Channel for ya). Back in my day, we would have a new DCOM every month or at least every summer month. Time kind of blurred together when all you worry about is eating and going to school. There are soooo many good DCOMs surrounding important complex characters, and there's soooo many DCOMs revolving around twins (and actual twins, not that lame copy paste the same person in a scene). Plus for all you HSM (High School Musical) lovers DCOMs would be why.
Tammy: So this is incredibly difficult, but I'm doing a top two for this case because DCOMs are the often forgotten category of Disney magic. One of my favorite DCOMs is "The Color of Friendship" (look for it in February). This is a cute, but at times serious DCOM featuring a divide between race and cultures. I don't want to give too much away, but if that interests you it's honestly a good movie. My other pick is actually one that Angela will pick too probably "Double Teamed". So first of all twins. Gold. Also they used two different people, granted they aren't twins, but they look freakishly alike. And it's based on a true story, so this is basically a documentary...lol. And finally, girls doing something BA. After this movie I wanted to do basketball, but then I remembered I have no coordination and the basketball bounced in my face and rolled away (or something like that). However, that's where DCOM magic goes, it drives you to be better and learn from these amazing movies (at least until about 2010, after that it got kinda musically and out of the original focus). Angela: I'm also going to pick a top two, cause it's so hard to pick just one. Mine are "Double Teamed" and "Motocrossed". Now "Double Teamed" was much the same reason Tammy liked it so much. How could I not pick a movie that is about twins that is based on real life. Now "Motocrossed" is a bit different, but it also has a set of twins, but this time they are boy/girl twins. If you couldn't guess they both are interested in motocross racing. The problem is dad does not like his daughter doing it cause she is a girl and he is fine if brother does it. Don't want to spoil it, but she works hard to prove him wrong with the help of the rest of her family. Our Favorites: Tammy: "The Color of Friendship" "Double Teamed" Angela: "Motocrossed" "Double Teamed" So what's you favorite DCOM? Did you even watch Disney Channel? Disclaimed: We are in no way sponsored or affiliated with the Walt Disney Company or Disney Channel. This is probably my favorite day because I absolutely love soundtracks of movies, especially Disney movies. I mean how can you go wrong with composers like Alan Menken, Danny Elfman, John Williams, Hans Zimmer, and Randy Newman, just to name a few. I'm a huge band nerd and the soundtracks to movies are a huge part of what brings the magic to some of these Disney movies. Plus some of the music scores make for good study/work music if you ever need some motivation (just don't get swept up in the music that you start humming along and forget to work).
Tammy: Now honestly this question would be really difficult, but I'm going with a recent soundtrack I immediately fell in love with "Beauty and the Beast: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" from the new 2017 live action movie. Now I loved the original soundtrack for the animated classic a lot and pretty much anything Alan Menken composes turns into gold (in my opinion of course), but there's more too this soundtrack than the original had. Although, Angela Lansbury's rendition of "Beauty and the Beast" will forever be my favorite, this newer album holds a song very special to my heart, "Evermore". If you ask Angela she'll tell you I listened to it nonstop for several weeks, which is half true. I love this song and I love how it adds to the Beast's story, it reminds me of the quote "If you love something let it go." I really feel like the Beast loved Belle in this moment (hopefully not spoiling the movie for anyone, but it's exactly like the animated one). The soundtrack also has more of a "musically" feel, it reminds me of my days in the pit band, but that's another story for another day. Angela: This was a really hard one, since music is such a big part of my life and Disney movies, as mentioned above. My favorite has to be from "Tarzan". How can you not sing along to the great songs like "Two Worlds", "You'll Be in My Heart", and "Trashin' the Camp". All of these are great songs by Phil Collins. I always loved "You'll Be in My Heart" and how he will always remember his parents, both human and ape. I loved how "Two Worlds" brought together his story and his life and old and new family. All of the songs are great and you can't help but song along with them once you know them. Tammy: "Beauty and the Beast: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" (2017) Angela: "Tarzan: An Original Walt Disney Records Soundtrack" (1999) What's your favorite Disney soundtrack? Do you have a favorite composer/arranger? Disclaimer: We are in no way affiliated or sponsored by the Walt Disney Company or the any recording company. Another Day another favorite Disney "thing" to add to this long list of "Disney Things". Favorite character name? Who came up with this Disney day? Oh yeah...me. Disney characters have been know to have unique names, take Vanellope Von Schweetz (I thought her name was Panellope for the longest time), Megara (although she's comes from Greek mythology), or even Olaf. They're still coming out with amazing Disney names like Moana and Maui. It just is amazing the names they continue to give their characters.
Tammy: With this Favorite you honestly can't go wrong with any character. Every Disney character has it's own unique name that just builds the whole Disney franchise. My favorite character would probably Lightning McQueen from the "Cars" franchise. Part of this come from a long running joke with my friend Amber. I like to call her McQueen, because her last name is so similar. In fact, any Lightning McQueen reference I see I try to send to her and if she posts one I gotta call her out on it. Besides when you really think about it all the names of the characters in the Cars universe are exciting and unique. Angela: There are so many great Disney names. I could not pick just one, sorry Tam. I am going to go with Megara and Merida. Both names come from females that are strong and brave and stay true to themselves and being individuals. Merida decides to fight for her own hand in marriage and Meg works for the Lord of the underworld, but does what she wants and won't do something she doesn't agree with. How can you go wrong with either of these names. When we first discussed names Meg was my first thought, but Merida is also such a great name. What's your favorite Disney name? Are you named after some Disney character? Disclaimer: We are not affiliate or sponsored by the Walt Disney Company. Favorite Outfit...how do I even decide the answer to this question? Where do you start with Disney outfits? Actual outfits for human or human-like characters wear or something else? Thinking about Disney outfits I cross into the Disney Bounding idea and then I get so many different ideas. The possibilities become endless. Now where do I start? I've gone back and forth on different ideas of what my favorite outfit may be, but after some searching for inspiration I think I have finally figured it out. And Angela struggled with this day too, so I feel better about my struggling with decisions on favorite things. (Also we're doing a new way of presenting our favorites.)
Tammy: My favorite outfit includes the complete outfit, the hair, the shoes, the clothes. It doesn't hurt that she's the character of one of my top 3 favorite Disney movies, Vanellope Von Schweetz, from "Wreck-It Ralph". I just love Vanellope so much, her style, her sass. She has cute little candies or hair clips in her hair. I would love to have her style and look like her. She's spunky and she sees the world differently. Her outfit represents that too. Angela: My favorite outfit was super hard to figure out. I started by googling outfits, then characters, and finally looking over the abundant amount of pictures figured one out that I really loved. I first looked at pictures of Ariel, she has a great style and who could say no to a shell bra, but she is not my favorite. My favorite outfit is Tiana's blue gown, right before she is turned into a frog. It helps that she is one of my favorite characters and the gown is in one of my favorite colors. It is in the part of the story where she has been seen as a nobody and is a little down on herself and the outfit shows her that her beauty can shine through, no matter what and isn't that something that everyone needs to hear more often. So what's your favorite Disney outfit? Do you Disney Bound? Disclaimer: We are not affiliated or sponsored with the Walt Disney Company. Still. Although I found this day to be easier. Maybe I'm getting more relaxed about my decisions as I go on, or maybe I'm not taking this as seriously as I was before and as a result it's going easier. Or maybe just maybe I decided to place days into this 30 Disney Day challenge that I already knew the answers to. The world may never know. It's probably a mix of all of the above, honestly. However, I'm excited about this day for some reason.
If you know me personally you may know that I don't like having long hair. It's weird, but I like other people having long hair. As long as that hair is as far away from me. Also I hate cleaning out the hair from drains, but that's another story. So who has the "Best Hair"? James P. Sullivan of course. In my opinion at least, but I mean come on look at that hair. I love the spots and it makes him lovable while still being somewhat scary. Plus MU is my favorite Pixar movie so of course I love all the characters for different reasons. Maybe this 30 Disney Day challenge will become a MU superlative list? I'll try not to. Angela went with a very classic answer, Rapunzel from "Tangled". She likes that she has very long hair, Angela likes to keep her hair long just like in Rapunzel, although for different reasons. She also really likes the scene where they ask the little girls to do something with her hair and they start braiding it like nobodies business and make it look so pretty and easier to get around with. Best Hair: Tammy- Sully Angela- Rapunzel What's your favorite Disney hair? Do you like the classic hair of humans or monsters? Disclaimer: We are not sponsored or affiliated with the Walt Disney Company. Although, if there's an offer I can easily change. Once again Angela has easily picked her favorite Disney live action film "Enchanted". While I have struggled a bit more with this. I seem to always struggle with my picks. Part of this stems from the fact that I'm rather indecisive. Also, there are so many options and really good ones too. This just continues to get more and more difficult as I continue on. However, I will continue, for you all, and try my best to make my picks.
Here we come to the "easiest" pick for both of us, and surprisingly we have the same pick, or picks. When thinking about sequels and prequels many great names come to mind in the Disney franchise. The High School Musical trilogy, a previously mentioned "Monsters University", or even "Finding Dory" the recently created sequel based on the lovable fish. However, there's also some "duds" Bambi 2, Cinderella 2, The Little Mermaid 2, and wow this list could go on. Also these "duds" are so unpopular that I'm not even sure these are the correct names for them. Also I'm not hating on these movies, they gave some good backstory/continued the story, but how many of us honestly can say we want to watch Cinderella 2 again and again?
The greatest collection of movies of all time, the Toy Story Trilogy. I'll even include the shorts and "Toy Story 4" (which comes out June 2018, get hyped). After seeing the first one everyone and their mothers wonder if they could do it again in "Toy Story 2" while keeping the integrity of the toys and adding to it. They did, and when "Toy Story 3" came out young adults, like myself were waiting at midnight premieres to cry over our beloved toys again. My prediction is "Toy Story 4" will crush it again, but I'm also thinking it should end after the third one, but we'll see. I still have my cute little "Toy Story" VHS. I remember playing some weird computer game based on the movie. I hated Sid, but I also loved him and what he did (minus hurting toys). Even with "Toy Story 2" the villain(s?) were so incredibly lovable, but also hatable. The trilogy gained so much of my heart that when it came to what seemed to be the final chapter I became so emotional. Even the miniseries that came from the Toy Story franchise. (BTW does anyone remember that Buzz Lightyear TV show "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command"?) Don't lie to about never saying "There's a snake in my boot." or wanting to go to Pizza Planet. The thing about Toy Story is even though the original movie came out 1995 it is still super relevant. Granted the third movie came out in 2010, but how can a movie and characters still be so popular and relevant almost 20 years from their creation. I can't say enough about this series. I love everything about it. Even the minor characters. I could quote at least most of it. I remember my parents buying us the first two movies in a DVD combo pack, and then I lost the discs...I also remember getting this sweet DVD/Blu-Ray Toy Box trilogy set, and loosing that too. I have now realized I need to keep better track of my DVDs, thank you for Digital copies now. What's your favorite sequel/prequel? Do you like TV spin-offs of movies? Disclaimer: We are in no way affiliated/sponsored with the Walt Disney Company or the Toy Story franchise. After just one day I have already figured out that I cannot pick any favorites especially when it comes to Disney because there's just so many! And there's no shortage of great Pixar movies. Plus growing up in "the age of Pixar" when Pixar first started coming out with movies and John Lasseter's shirt grew in popularity. This was by far the most difficult decision I've had to make (so far?)...it's only the second day, I won't get too dramatic. But growing up with a group of movies like "Toy Story", "A Bug's Life", and "Monsters Inc.", how can I decide? Well I'll try.
Angela went with a more recent Pixar movie, "Inside Out", and honestly you can't go wrong with any of the Pixar movies in my opinion. Angela definitely appreciates the message that the story gives. Having emotions is important, and it's okay to be happy or angry or scared or disgusted or even sad at times. Sometimes the saddest times bring some of the happiest moments in our lives. It's okay to feel more than one emotion at a time too. It's okay to have these feelings and embracing feelings is okay too. The message is important. It has helped so many people to think about their emotions, helping many children and adults better understand and communicate their emotions. It is a such a great movie and with an amazing vocal cast including some of my favorites, Amy Poehler and Mindy Kaling. If you haven't watched it yet, you should. My pick is fairly new too, but also a prequel to a classic, (with some storyline fails like when Mike and Sulley were grade school pals, I pay attention Pixar...) "Monsters University". I love this movie, it's in my top ten list, actually might even be my top three. This movie reminds me of college, partially because I first watched it in college, but more importantly my lovely college friend Heather. Heather loves the "Monsters Inc" universe, she has (or had) a Sulley onsie and an MU hat (I still want one for me). I remember watching MU with her one time when she came back to campus to visit. Heather is probably a large reason why I love this movie so much. Not only did I watch this movie with some college friends, but with my family in the movie theater. My dad was so excited about the soundtrack because it was recorded by a Drum Corps. This movie gives me good feelings and reminders of college and little Mike Wazowski is just precious. Favorite Pixar Movie- Angela "Inside Out" Tammy "Monsters University" What's your favorite Pixar movie? Do you have any cool Pixar merch? Let us know in the comments! Disclaimer: We are still in now way sponsored or affiliated with the Walt Disney Company or Pixar. Disney Princesses carry so much controversy in the Disney universe. Is she a real Princess or naw? "I don't like the new princesses." "I'm an original Princess fan only." Well I'm not. If you use the actually guidelines there's only about eleven "real" princesses. Now I love all of them, they're so pretty and fab in their own rights, but I'm going outside the box personally for this one. Now my sister on the other hand has gone somewhat "classic" and I agree with her pick, but first let me go into what I'm thinking.
I've recently watch Sofia the First on Netflix (I'm a sucker for kids shows) and I love her. She is so adorable and *spoiler alert?* she can talk to animals. Plus she has a purple dress and she plays by her own rules. I'm a huge fan already and I've barely watched the first season. However, she's still a child and so Disney doesn't see her as a real Princess. I'll give it to her though. But then as I was sitting here writing and thinking about Pincesses and Dot came to my mind. If you don't know who Dot is she's from "A Bug's Life" and is one of my favorite childhood movies. But she's not human, and a Disney Princess (officially) has to be human (or human-like i.e. Ariel). Angela is going with a traditional Princess, Tiana, from "The Princess and the Frog". Tiana is a hardworking, independent, and strong Princess. She's a true role model for women. She wants to follow her dream of opening a restaurant when *spoiler alert* she becomes a frog. I think the real reason Tiana is one of our favorite movies lies in how we first saw it. When it came out we went on a movie trip with our Sunday School teacher, Megan, and her husband the choir director, BJ. I think that seeing that movie with them gave the movie itself and all the music, characters, story-line, a special place in our hearts. Favorite Disney Princess- Tammy: Sofia the First...or Dot...or Princess Tiana Angela: Princess Tiana What's your favorite Disney Princess? Do you have a special story to go with it?
